Man shot in both legs in South Armagh attack
A man in his 50’s has been shot in both legs in the Cullyhanna area.
According to local sources, several men entered a house outside Cullyhanna on the Drummond Road just after 7pm this evening, Tuesday 5th November.
The injured man was taken to hospital by ambulance where he is being treated for injuries not believed to be life-threatening. Police said a number of other people who were in the house at the time were left shocked but uninjured.
Commenting on the news Sinn Féin Councillor Colman Burns told Newry Times he condemned those responsible for the attack.
He stated, “I condemn unreservedly this incident during which I believe a man in his 50’s was shot in both legs and hit over the head in an attack which occurred in his own home.
“This incident occurred around 7.00pm this evening and the man has been taken to hospital. Those responsible for this attack must outline their rationale for doing this and what they hoped to achieve.
“The community in South Armagh is appalled at this incident and I would urge anyone with information to present it to the authorities.”
