Rogers hits out at Halloween rioters in Kilkeel

SDLP MLA Sean Rogers has condemned those behind disturbances in Kilkeel on Halloween evening.

The South Down MLA said, “I want to condemn those behind the serious disruption that we witnessed in Kilkeel yesterday evening.

“On what should have been an enjoyable evening of Halloween celebrations, we had instead an evening which deteriorated into chaos. I am appalled that masked youths blocked the Scrogg Road and attacked police with bricks and bottles.

“This rioting went on for a period of two hours and could have resulted in prolonged disruption if it was not for the swift actions of the Police and Fire service.

Rogers added, “This kind of behaviour is utterly unacceptable and the entire community will be united no doubt in condemnation at this violent and disorderly behaviour. I would urge anyone with information regarding this incident to come forward to the PSNI as soon as possible.”
