McKevitt encourages local people to mark global ‘Wave of Light’
SDLP MLA for South Down Karen has spoken of the need to support those families who have been affected by the loss of a baby on Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day, which takes place today, 15th October.
Speaking to Newry Times, McKevitt stated, “On Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day all of our thoughts are with those whose lives have been touched by the devastating loss of a baby during pregnancy or just after birth.
“As a mother of five children I am keenly aware of the very precious gift a child is and how much joy they bring to a family. People across the Globe will take part in the global ‘Wave of Light’, lighting a candle at 7pm and letting it burn for an hour to remember those babies that have left this world.
McKevitt added, “This ‘Wave of light’ is a fitting way to remember the babies that were loved so dearly. I hope that families touched by such sadness get all the support they need to cope with their loss.”
