Craobh Rua Camlocha hurlers cruise into Ulster Club Championship Final

Craobh Rua Camlocha (Ard Mhacha) 2-22 Na Seamrogaí (Tír Eoghain) 3-6

Armagh Junior hurling Champions Craobh Rua Camlocha have won their way through to the Ulster Club Championship final after a semi final win over highly fancied Tyrone Champions, Shamrocks.

It was a truly solid team performance that enthralled the large crowd of Craobh Rua supporters who had travelled to Dungannon for the game.

The game commenced with a quick Ryan Lewis point but the Strabane based Tyrone Champions rocked the Armagh Champions when they immediately responded with a scrappy goal to take the lead. This would be the only time that Craobh Rua would not be in front in the game.

Led by Eoghan Robb, Kyle Kane, Fiachra Bradley and Conor Devlin, the Camloch hurling club took command of the game and goals from Robb and Devlin ensured that they enjoyed a 2-17 to 2-6 half time lead.

Despite fears of a Shamrocks wind aided fight back in the second half, the Craobh Rua side carried the game to their opponents and great scores from Fiachra Bradley and Eoghan Robb ensured the Camloch Club would rightly take its place in the Ulster final, which is due to be played on Sunday week.

Ryan Lundy in goals, Mickey Lewis, Mark Fleming and Sean Casey showed great skill and strength in the heart of the Craobh Rua defence as were Hugh Hanna, Michael Garvey and Micheal Doran.

The experienced Paul Cunningham and Micheál Bradley helped keep a coolness and calmness amongst the younger hurlers whilst Fionnán Burns, Paddy O Connor, Joseph O Connor, Colm Creaney and David Treanor all made telling contributions to this famous victory.

Speaking after the game team manager Patrick Brady talked of the great pride he and all involved with the Hurling Club had in this team. “They richly deserve this victory. The focus now is on the Ulster Final”, said Patrick.

Club Chairperson Laurence Bradley thanked all for their support and said that he and those involved with Craobh Rua Camlocha were looking forward to participating in the Ulster Final.

“This squad of players are in the Ulster Final on merit, they have done their Club, community, Parish and families proud,” said Laurence.

He added, “On behalf of Craobh Rua I would like to thank all those local GAA Clubs who sent us best wishes and have supported us throughout not only this year but throughout the years. We hope as many as possible will travel to the Final to support us”.
