‘Mobile phone companies are failing customers’ – McKevitt

SDLP South Down MLA Karen McKevitt says she is disappointed with the poor service mobile phone companies are currently providing to customers.

Speaking to Newry Times, she said, “More and more often the mobile networks are failing and customers are left experiencing an array of difficulties when attempting to use their mobile phones.

“For some, the network coverage drops off in the middle of a telephone conversation leaving them hearing only their own echo; others are receiving text messages hours or even days after they were sent and encountering problems with internet access.

“It appears deeply unfair to me that mobile phone companies have not resolved these problems weeks, even months, after they began but customers must continue to pay their standard monthly bills when being provided with a sub-standard service. The matter therefore needs addressed urgently.

McKevitt added, “I have made representation to mobile phone companies, OFCOM and the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Investment and I await their responses.”
