Councillor Harte praises safety measures at Needham Bridge

Newry Sinn Féin Councillor Valerie Harte has welcomed increased safety measures at Needham Bridge at one of the town’s busiest junctions.

Speaking to Newry Times, Councillor Harte said, “Roads Service has replaced a section of foot-way bollards with 30 meters of pedestrian guard rail at the Needham Bridge entrance to Newry Bus Station.

“I recently met with roads service at this site to discuss options to minimise the danger posed by the tail swing of buses entering the Bus Station via this route.

Harte added, “As the photograph depicts guard railing has been erected instead of the previous bollards. This makes it much safer for pedestrians who know that they must stay behind the railings. I hope that this measure enhances the safety of our city.”
