Newry MLA Mickey Brady has welcomed confirmation from the Southern Health & Social Care Trust that work to complete the upgrade of the Emergency Department at Daisy Hill Hospital is to resume. Speaking to Newry Times, Brady stated, “I am glad that work can now resume on the upgrade of Daisy Hill’s Emergency Department. “It was a worrying time for staff and patients when work on the site stopped abruptly during the summer. At the time the Southern Trust did everything in their power to ensure that this stoppage did not drag on and they maintained regular contact with me which I appreciate. Brady added, “I’m sure that all concerned will be happy to know that work is expected to be completed by the end of October and we will have a first class Accident and Emergency for Newry and its environs.”
