Warrenpoint company SIPFIT wins top business award
Warrenpoint based company SIPFIT has won the top Energy & Environment Innovation Award 2013 at the annual Sustainable Ireland Awards.
The company was presented with the much coveted award, sponsored by Invest NI, at a glittering ceremony at the Ramada Hotel in Belfast.
This structural insulated panel manufacturer and R & D company was formed four years ago to meet the need for environmentally friendly construction projects and has already built up a highly respected reputation for design and build innovation, winning many awards along the way.
One of its most recent successes was the manufacture of a 109 bedroom hotel off-site which was then transported by sea to Shetland where it was assembled, a project that injected over £5 million into the local economy.
The company also took a lead in the development and construction of a Resource Efficient House at BRE Innovation Park in Scotland; it also won the Sustainable Building Project of the Year award.
Other projects have included a ‘zero carbon’ Tesco store in Dublin and an energy efficient renewables laboratory for Dimplex in Portadown and it is currently working on a contract to provide 79 modular, social and affordable houses in Scotland.
With 13 separate categories, the annual Awards is organised by the Hillsborough based publishers of Sustainable Ireland, 4SM (NI) Ltd, and is now widely regarded as the premier event in the Irish Environmental, Waste Management and Energy sectors, attracting entries, support and sponsorship from all the leading players across the industry.
Over 330 people attended the top event and the winners were delighted to take home a top award.
