Excitement builds for Pride in Newry
Pride in Newry and the Newry Rainbow Community have confirmed their full exciting line up for the Pride in Newry Parade, Festival and Outdoor Concert taking place in McClelland Park, Newry on the 31st August 2013.
Free events, listed on www.prideinnewry.com will be taking place throughout the city from Thursday 24th to Saturday 31st August, which will be the main Pride Day.
From 10am to 3pm Marcus Square will have Stalls, Buskers, Street Entertainment, Face-painting, Info stands and a Community Circus. Starting at 2pm, The Pride in Newry Parade promises to be the biggest spectacle of this year’s festival, filled with a wash of colour, personality, music and fun!
Parade Participants can begin to line up from 12 midday and the Parade will leave McClelland Park following the same route as last year, incorporating Monaghan Street, Merchants Quay, Sugar Island and Hill Street. From 3pm, McClelland Park in the Creamery Quarter of the city will truly come to life for the biggest free post-parade open-air concert staged to date.
Presented by the fantastic Lady Portia Di Monte, seen most recently on ITV’s ‘This Morning’ and headlined by Cheesetastic, Rainbow Flag Flying ex UK Eurovision hopeful ‘SCOOCH’, Pride in Newry have also secured performances from BBC The Voice’s ‘Conor Scott’.
Northern Irelands own ‘The Diva Dolls’ will also feature as well as Dublin urban star ‘Graciano Major’, Popular ABBA Tribute ‘The Bjorn Identity’, Debbie Bradley as Lady GaGa, Paula K as Katy Perry, Alecia karr as Pink, Newry’s own First Lady Miss Trisha Delisha, Jessie K, Rayanna, DJ Marko Gallagher, DJ Dion Conlon, Rusty Hinges, Caolán Dooley, Orlaigh Comer and much more.
From 8pm, following on from the enormous success of last year’s Pride in Newry Cabaret Ball featuring Barbara Bryceland, the Newry Rainbow Community will be recreating the Pride ball once again on the top floor of Bellini’s, Newry. This year’s Cabaret Ball takes place on the evening of Saturday 31st August 2013 following the parade and party in McClelland Park.
A sparkling gala evening of fantastic entertainment featuring The Diva Dolls and the Burlesque Belles, with a champagne reception and gourmet buffet served to your table makes it is a night not to be missed. This event will again attract thousands of people from Newry, its surrounding areas and wider afield into Newry City Centre on the day if the huge success of last year’s event is anything to go by.

The Pride in Newry official press launch and balloon release will take place at 2pm on Thursday 22nd August 2012 in the Renaissance Suite, Bellini’s Bar, Merchants Quay, Newry. Champagne and Canapés provided. All welcome.
