Teens charged with car theft

Police in Newry have charged two teenagers following the theft of a car in the Republic of Ireland.

A 16 year old man and 18 year old man were arrested after a car was observed driving erratically on Sugar Island during the early hours of Sunday, 28th July.

The car was found to have been stolen in Dundalk. The 18 year old man was charged with allowing himself to be carried, going equipped for theft, handling property stolen in the Republic of Ireland and possession of an offensive weapon.

The 16 year old man was charged with dangerous driving, driving whilst disqualified, failing to stop, handling property stolen in the Republic of Ireland, possession of Class B drugs and driving with no insurance.

They both appeared before Newry Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 29th July.
