Megan Fearon selected for EU Committee

Newry and Armagh Assembly Member Megan Fearon has been selected to sit on the prestigious EU ‘Committee of the Regions’.

The Committee of the Regions is the EU’s assembly of regional and local representatives, designed to bring the EU closer to local citizens.

Speaking about her appointment Fearon said, “I am delighted to represent the Assembly on this European committee. I am looking forward to learning more about the workings of the European Parliament and I will be making sure that the wishes of the people of the North are taken into account when EU legislation is being drafted.

“I’m fortunate that my Sinn Féin colleague Martina Anderson is a Member of the European Parliament and I’m sure she we be in a good position to assist me in making the most of my role on this committee.”

The Committee of the Regions meets approximately six times a year.
