SDLP MLA for South Down Sean Rogers has praised the work of Aware Defeat Depression following the lunch of the ‘Big D Guest T’ at Stormont with Lynda Bryans. Speaking to Newry Times, Rogers said, “I want to pay tribute to the excellent work of Aware Defeat Depression. The organisation is helping to breakdown the stigma around mental health. “The ‘Big D Guest T’ event at Stormont was a great success and a timely reminder of the need to reach out to those who are finding it difficult to cope. We all need to look after our mental health and the idea of hosting a tea party on World Suicide Prevention Day; September 10 is a great idea. “Often sharing a cup of tea can provide an opportunity for friends and family to share any problems they may be having. Communicating with each other is essential to unlocking the burden of mental health and depression. Rogers added, “I want to wish all those who participate in the ‘Big D Guest T’ on September 10 the best as they raise funds to help tackle an illness that could affect any of us at any time in our life.”
