Independents’ Day at Buttercrane
“We want YOU…to shop local” is the message from Buttercrane Centre who is making it its business to back Newry & Mourne’s Buy Local campaign.

Representatives from some of Buttercrane’s locally-owned businesses are pictured supporting Miss Buttercrane Claire Lyons (centre) who, in the style of Uncle Sam’s famous poster, calls upon the public to support the Buy Local campaign
The initiative aims to encourage citizens to spend their money within the local community and support local businesses.
Buttercrane’s city centre mall plays quite a part on the jobs front by employing 900 local people, making it responsible for pouring some £10m of wages back into the economy each year.
Shoppers should also bear in mind that amongst Buttercrane’s 50+ stores, anchored by M&S, Dunnes and Primark, there are many locally-owned outlets, such as Cookstop, Louis Boyd, Argento, Zest, O’Brien’s, Bureau, Spar, Specsavers, DV8, and Exhibit.
