Clarke welcomes door replacements
Newcastle Alliance Party Councillor Patrick Clarke has welcomed confirmation from the Housing Executive regarding a number of properties in Church Avenue, Dundrum, which will now receive front and back door replacements in the coming few weeks.
Councillor Clarke had received a number of complaints from constituents regarding problems with front and back doors which were causing water and draughts to enter into the properties as well as difficulty opening doors.
Speaking to Newry Times, Clarke stated, “In recent weeks I had received a number of complaints from constituents regarding ongoing problems with front and back doors in their housing executive properties.”
“The front and back doors had become warped and were expanding due to water thus making the front and back doors quite difficult to open and close. Some of these same properties had recently installed uPVC windows by the Housing Executive to replace old wooden framed single pane glazing.
“Following my written representations to the Housing Executive regarding a number of properties I received confirmation from the Housing Executive agreeing to replace a number of front and back doors to properties that qualify.
Clarke added, “The Housing Executive confirmed that an inspection had now been carried out by the maintenance officer as agreed and the Housing Executive has determined that the front and back doors need replaced and orders have been sent to their contractor to carry out this work.
“The Housing Executive also stated this will be done as soon as possible that the door sets are manufactured.”
