Newcastle Arts Festival makes Epic Awards 2013 Shortlist
Alliance Party Newcastle Councillor Patrick Clarke has congratulated Newcastle Arts Festival on being shortlisted to this year’s Epic Awards.
The Epic Awards 2013 are an initiative of Voluntary Arts, the national development agency for arts participation. Voluntary Arts offers information, advice, training and development opportunities to those in the voluntary or amateur arts sector, from small local groups to large national organisations.
Congratulating those involved, Clarke stated, “Since 2011 Newcastle Arts Festival have organised two highly and very successful arts festivals displaying a wide range of artistic talent and entertainment in Newcastle with a packed programme of events.”
“In the 2012 arts festival Newcastle had some of the most colourful pieces of art displayed over various objects in the form of knitwear which was designed by the Yarn Bombing group S.O.C.K. (Secret Outside Crocheters and Knitters) which attracted a lot of attention from visitors and the media.”
“It is a credit to the voluntary and artistic talents of Newcastle Arts Festival that has enabled them to bring such high quality entertainment to the town of Newcastle. There are already plans to expand the festival further in 2013 by adding literary and culinary elements.”
He added, “I wish Newcastle Arts Festival the best of luck in the Epic Awards 2013 Shortlist and would encourage people to log on and vote online before the deadline of midday 30th January 2013.”
