‘Institutional abuse victims deserve justice’ – Fearon
Sinn Féin MLA Megan Fearon spoke at the debate on the next stage of the Inquiry into Historical Institutional Abuse Bill at the Assembly on Tuesday last.
Megan Fearon said, “There are no words that can explain the horrific ordeal these people have gone through as children, so it is essential that we move this Bill through the stages as soon as possible in order to allow the process of finding the truth to continue.
“Over the past few years there has been a lot of good work done in terms of bringing about an inquiry and today’s debate is another step in finalising the detail of the Bill. I am also glad that many of the amendments agreed today reflect the feedback from submissions by survivors of institutional abuse.
She added, “I am committed to supporting the victims of institutional abuse and will continue to work with them in order to seek the truth in these matters.”
