Slieve Gullion area Sinn Fein Councillor Anthony Flynn has said that the early morning reckless use of fireworks in the Bay View Estate Jonesborough has angered and disgusted many local people. Speaking to Newry Times, Flynn explained, “In the early hours of Sunday morning fireworks were let off, many fired indiscriminately at homes and cars. “Residents, many of whom are elderly, were frightened by this wanton act of anti social disturbance. There is no fun in this type of irresponsible and reckless use of fireworks. He added, “It is dangerous and I share the anger and disgust of residents about the incident. I would hope that it is not repeated.”
