Kearney urges vigilance after Burren car theft attempts

Sinn Fein Councillor Peter Kearney has called on the residents of Milltown Street in Burren to be vigilant after an attempt was made to steal cars at the weekend

Speaking to Newry Times, Kearney explained,

“It has come to my attention that attempts have been made to steal cars in the Milltown Street area of Burren. As the dark nights are fast approaching and the winter is setting in, opportunistic criminals may make use of this time of year on unsuspecting residents.”

“I would call on communities to be vigilant and to keep an eye out for each other especially given the fact that attempts have already been made to steal cars. Always remember your vehicle is like a shop window to thieves. Please make sure your possessions and valuables are out of sight or removed from your vehicle completely.”

He added, “Don’t become a victim of theft from vehicles by forgetting to close it, lock it and check it. I will be raising this issue with the local area commander of the PSNI and I hope they will increase patrols in the area to combat this issue.”
