Hazzard praises Down Minor Camogs

Local Assembly man Chris Hazzard has praised the latest win by the Down Minor camogie panel.

The team of girls where successful yet again when they defeated holders Antrim to pick up the Ulster Minor title with a finishing score line of Down 2-12, Antrim 1-06 in Ballygalget.

Speaking to Newry Times, Hazzard commented;

“I am delighted to once again congratulate this team of girls on their most recent success. In May I had the honour of hosting them in assembly buildings, where we paid tribute to their lifting an All-Ireland title. This group of girls are a very special bunch and we should be very proud of them in the county. Each and every one of them are a credit to their parents, clubs and County.”

He added, “2012 has been a fantastic year for our minor Hurling and Camogie teams in the county, with the recent success of the hurlers also lifting the Minor Ulster title. It gives be great hope for the future of gaelic sport across County Down.
