Samaritans Newry 24/7 event a huge success
The Samaritans Newry Balloon Launch event this week has been hailed a huge success.
On 24th of July each year Samaritans all over the UK and Ireland celebrate the fact that they continue to provide emotional support to all people in need of support for the 24 hours of every day of the 7 day week…..hence 24/7.
To celebrate this, Newry Samaritans held an event on Tuesday at the Central Bus Station, where the mayor of Newry joined forces with Big O and Samaritans representatives for the hugely anticipated balloon launch.
Elaine, Deputy Director for Outreach spoke to Newry Times and said, “Every year we use 24th July to highlight that we offer confidential, emotional support to anyone experiencing feelings of distress, isolation or despair 24/7, 365 days a year.
“It’s important that we get the message across that no problem is too big or too small, if you need to talk, at any hour day or night we will listen. Samaritans can be contacted by phone, text, email or in person. Your local branch is situated at 19 St Colman’s Park, just off Hill Street.”
Big O echoed Elaine’s sentiments, stating, “I was delighted to come along today and support our local Samaritan Branch and help highlight the services they offer throughout the Newry and Dundalk areas.”
You can contact the Samaritans on the phone on 02830266366, also via text message 07725 90 90 90, e-mail jo@samaritans.org and they also offer face to face support in their branch at 19, St, Colman’s Park, Newry.
