‘Ulster Bank delay is unacceptable’ – McKevitt

SDLP South Down MLA Karen McKevitt has stated that Ulster Bank’s delay in resuming full banking services is unacceptable as news emerges that it will be the beginning of next week before full service is resumed.

Speaking to Newry Times about the ongoing saga, McKevitt said: “The backlog created by this software problem will have a knock on effect and cause disruption to people waiting on salaries to be paid in and direct debits going out, not to mention the detrimental effect on those waiting on payments of social welfare benefit.”

She added, “I hope that Ulster Bank stand by their promise that no customer will be out of pocket as a result of this software problem. I call on Ulster Bank to improve their lines of communication with their customers and I will be seeking assurances that a full investigation will be carried out ”.
