Woman suffers head injury after Newry assault
A woman has become the latest victim of assault in Newry City Centre after she was set upon by a man and woman and required hospital treatment.
Police spoke to Newry Times and said the assault took place on Tuesday 8th May at approximately 6pm in the Monaghan Street area of the city. According to the police, the assault victim – believed to be in her twenties – was assaulted by another man and woman of a similar age.
The victim suffered a head injury which requirement treatment in the nearby Daisy Hill Hospital.
Shortly afterwards a 21 year old man and a 22 year old woman were arrested on suspicion of Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm (AOABH) and theft but were released on bail pending further enquiries.
