Newry team finish second in Boccia tournament

A local Boccia team recently finished second in a Boccia tournament consisting of twenty one teams from across the Southern Trust area, including teams from Armagh, Dungannon, Craigavon, Banbridge and Newry and Mourne. The winners were ‘Young Ones’ of Banbridge, with ‘Newry Hotshots’ finishing second and ‘Good Manors’ of Lurgan finishing third.

Fit 4 U Project Officer, Rhonda Richardson, explained, “Boccia is an inclusive sport, which encourages active lifestyles, provides important social networks for people with a disability and has physical, mental and social health benefits.”

The event, organised by the Southern Trust Fit 4 U Project, Craigavon Borough Council, Banbridge District Council, and Craigavon Sports & Leisure User Group, builds on the successful work of these organisations in developing and promoting physical activity opportunities for people with a disability across the Southern Area.
