McKevitt concerned about Newry Occupational Health Unit

SDLP South Down MLA Karen McKevitt said she is deeply concerned by what she described as ‘reliable reports’ that the occupational health department at Daisy Hill Hospital in Newry may be closed down either for a year or indefinitely.

Speaking to Newry Times, she said, “Over the last few days a number of constituents have contacted me about reports that occupational health staff at Daisy Hill are to be relocated to Armagh and Craigavon next month. There is particular concern among users of these services from the Mournes who would face very long journeys if this proves to be correct.”

She added, “I have been unable to get any sort of confirmation or denial so far but I am now seeking an urgent meeting the head of the Southern Trust to get to the bottom of this.”
