Security alert in Newry after suspicious object found in Iceland carpark
Motorists are advised to avoid the Monaghan Street area of the city after a suspicious object was discovered by the Police in Iceland Car Park. Ammunition Technical Officers are currently at the scene and are investigating.
Speaking to Newry Times, a spokesman for the PSNI stated, “Police in Newry are currently attending the scene of a security alert at a car park in Monaghan Street following a report of a suspicious object. ATO have been tasked. No roads have been closed at this stage however police would advise motorists to avoid the Cornmarket/Monaghan Street areas.”
