Newry and Mourne Grassroots Development Centre hosts first coaches forum

Newry and Mourne Grassroots Development Centre this week hosted it’s first coaches forum at Newry City FC. The forum was held on Sunday 29th January and clubs represented were Camlough Rovers, Ashgrove, Damolly and Newry City. The the agenda at the event was the New Games Development Centre programme, Talent ID and Coach Education

The purpose of the forum is to encourage coaches to share opinions and views regarding the development of young players in the Newry and Mourne area, while also improving relationships between clubs.

Grassrtoots Development Officer, Malcolm Roberts commented on how coaches can discover the similarities they may have, “The forum allows coaches, who normally would only see each other from the side of the pitch during games, a chance to discover the similarities they actually have in terms of providing the best opportunities for our young players”.

The next forum is planned for April.
