Newry power-cut update: Six houses remain in the dark
Only six houses in the Newry and Mourne area are now without electricity. The news is a welcome boost to the community after a massive 1800 houses were affected by power cuts and a black out today in the area. NIE engineers have been working throughout the day to fix an underground cable fault in the Lisdrumgullion area.
Speaking to Newry Times about the ongoing operation, Les Drew, spokesman for NIE said, “Initially there were approximately 1800 houses suffering from a power cut in the Newry area but our engineers have been working around the clock to fix this. Of the 1800 affected, 1794 houses have had their electricity restored and six houses are still without. We hope to have this problem sorted tonight over the next number of hours.”
