Around Noon scoops seventh top award in recent weeks

Newry-based Around Noon has added to its remarkable track record of industry recognition in recent weeks with a number of significant award wins.

Around Noon is a fast-growing manufacturer of sandwiches, wraps, salads, juices and bakery items.

Hot off the heels of being listed as one of the UK’s fastest-growing companies, ranking within The Sunday Times Virgin Fast Track 100, Around Noon fended off stiff competition from some of Northern Ireland’s leading companies to pick up two top awards at the recent UTV Business Eye Awards.

Picking up the award for ‘Fast Growth Business of the Year’, Around Noon also went on to collect the evening’s top accolade when it was announced as ‘Company of the Year’.

The ‘food-to-go’ manufacturer also recently won a prestigious Blas na hEireann Gold Irish Food Award, a Greater Newry Area Business Award and two awards at the recent Irish Foodservice Quality Food Awards.

These add to wins this year including Herbert Smith Freehills Young Leader of the Year and three awards at the Sammies – the UK sandwich industry’s big event. It recently announced that it had acquired London-based Chef-in-a-Box in a significant deal to expand its business in the UK and Ireland.

Headed by CEO Gareth Chambers, Around Noon employs over 300 people and counts the likes of Henderson Group and Starbucks as clients.

Speaking to Newry Times, Gareth said, “We are thrilled with the awards, particularly as they reflect the excellent work our team does right across the business.

“The Sammies and Blas na hEireann Awards recognise the quality of our products, success at the 2017 Irish Foodservice Quality Food Awards recognises the excellent partnerships we have with our clients, and the Newry Business Award recognises our business strategy.

“Our most recent successes at the UTV Business Eye Awards and being listed in The Sunday Times Virgin Fast Track 100 reflects the true scale of our significant growth over the past 18-months and highlights the stellar ambition of our team.”

He added, “It has been a very exciting year for Around Noon and I want to pay tribute to everyone in our team for their role in making that possible.”
