Restoration work completed on listed Newry building

danske2The scaffolding has come down on Danske Bank’s Newry branch as work to repair and restore the exterior of the building has completed.

Since last autumn, external remedial works have been carried out to the front elevations of the listed Hill Street building to address problems of water getting in and deterioration of the external render.


 

Adrienne Cockram, Senior Branch Manager, explained, “The building is more than 125 years old and a landmark in the heart of the city. While it needed to be made weathertight, we also wanted to restore the façade and to enhance the visual appearance of the building.

25th March 2017“Our Properties team have worked closely with the Historic Environment Division and have done a great job to make the necessary repairs while preserving and enhancing the beautiful period features of the building.


 

“I would like to thank our customers and neighbouring businesses for their patience while the building works were carried out. The restoration represents a significant investment in the building and in the city.


 

Adrienne added, “There has been a lot of interest in what we have been doing and we are delighted with how the building now looks.
