Sean works within the community and his target is to encourage mobility and support patients to achieve their functional goals and independence. By supporting patients to regain mobility, independence and confidence, Sean has helped stroke survivors to make the best recovery possible.
Sean was deserving of the award because he is passionate about ensuring patients receive the best possible care for their circumstances and is wholly dedicated to providing individualised therapy.
Speaking to Newry Times, Sean said, “I was very flattered to have received the Northern Ireland award in 2016 as I see my work as just one part of the wider multi-disciplinary approach from acute care to community care and through to support of the voluntary sector organisations like Stroke Association.
“I’m very pleased to receive this award and would encourage anyone to nominate their stroke hero or team for a UK Life after Stroke Award,” he added.
There are 34000 stroke survivors in Northern Ireland and each year an estimated 4000 people have a stroke.
