Speaking at the annual Holocaust Memorial Event, this year being held in Armagh, Junior Minister Megan Fearon has said that the genocide and horrors of the Holocaust must never be forgotten.

The Newry & Armagh Sinn Féin Assembly Election candidate said, “It is a great honour to host this event in Armagh. We are here to remember one of the bleakest events in human history, which saw over 6 million jewish men women and children murdered.

“Unfortunately we are currently seeing a resurgence of far right groups in Europe and anti-semitism, including violent attacks, have seen a sharp increase in recent years.

“Collectively we must unite to eleminate anti-semitism from society and never forget the horrors that led to the Holocaust and all other genocides. We must learn lessons form the past so mistakes won’t be repeated.”
