Brady ‘deeply frustrated’ after Newry Health Service public meeting
Newry & Armagh MP Mickey Brady has said that the recent Health Service Public Consultation held in Newry had left himself and many others who attended it ‘deeply frustrated’.
The MP also confirmed that he fully supported the request for another consultation meeting to be held in the Newry area.
The Sinn Féin MP said, “I was extremely frustrated and angry with the most recent consultation in Newry. The venue was not appropriate, and much of the night’s discussion was unfortunately taken up on that issue.
“Whilst there were chances from some in attendance to have an input into some of the issues on the agenda, myself and many others did not. I deeply regret that I did not have the opportunity to have an input and hopefully will be able to do so at the next consultation meeting.
“There are hugely important local issues relating to for example Daisy Hill Hospital, local GP and After Hour Services, Domiciliary Care, helping transform our Health Services and the delivery of all those services, and there is a need for all to be given the opportunity to make this known.”

Brady added, “These Public meetings should allow the public to engage face to face with senior professional medical, nursing and policy staff from the Department of Health. Feedback from these public meetings is key to help decide what criteria to adopt, which will inform the future of our health and social care system.”
