Newry foster carer recognised by Ant and Dec
A foster carer from Newry received very special recognition from Ant and Dec on their ‘Saturday Night Takeaway’ show on Saturday night, 5th March.
To mark Mother’s Day, one of Ella Rafferty’s foster children nominated her to be given a very special surprise by the famous TV duo.
Ella, who has been fostering for 27 years, has cared for over 40 children and young people, some short term and others for longer term placements.
Unsuspecting Ella, who just thought she was going to be in the audience of the popular prime time show, was shocked when she was singled out and given a cabin on the cruise for the series finale in Barcelona.
Congratulating Ella, Paul Morgan, Director of Children and Young People’s Services for the Southern Trust said, “We are absolutely delighted that Ella has received this very special tribute.
“She, like our many other foster carers go beyond the call of duty every day, opening up their homes and their hearts to make a real difference to many young people who need a positive influence in their lives.
