Speaking to Newry Times, Ruane said, “I approved the construction of this school during my tenure as Education Minister so I am delighted to see it progress to the next stage.

“This £3.5 million project when complete will create a modern environment for educating our children so I am looking forward to the construction stage starting soon.

“Not only will we see the creation of a new school but the local economy will also be boosted during the construction stage.

She added, “Sinn Féin has demonstrated, through successive Education Ministers, a commitment to create a first class school estate that will give pupils, staff and local communities the most modern buildings in which we can educate our children.”
