Murder of South Armagh man raised in Stormont

SDLP MLA for Newry and Armagh Dominic Bradley, on the 7th Anniversary of the murder of Paul Quinn, has raised the issue with the Minister of Justice during Question Time in the Assembly.

Bradley asked, “Is the Minister aware that today is the 7th Anniversary of the brutal murder of Paul Quinn who, in the words of the International Monitoring Commission, was murdered by current and former members of the IRA and what message has he for those in south Armagh who have information about this terrible crime and those who attempted to criminalise Paul?”

The Minister in his reply said that all politicians in the local area had an obligation to urge people with information about this crime to bring it forward.

Commenting on the Minister’s answer, Bradley said, “It is a fact that there are those in this community who participated in this terrible crime and there are others who have information which would help bring those responsible to justice.

“The time has long past when the Quinn family should have had justice. It is time for those with information to come forward to an Garda Síochána or the PSNI to move the investigation forward.

“Those within the Republican movement have a special responsibility to not only use their influence to facilitate justice but to withdraw the scurrilous accusations made against Paul.”

Bradley also asked the Minister of Justice to meet Stephen and Bríd Quinn to hear their story at first hand. Mr Ford has agreed to this meeting and he also gave an undertaking to raise the case with the Minister of Justice in the South Frances Fitzgerald.
