Newry jobs announcement welcomed

Sinn Féin Newry/Armagh MP Conor Murphy and SDLP South Down MLA Karen McKevitt have welcomed the announcement that insurance firm Autoline is to increase its local workforce with 60 new jobs.

Autoline in Newry will create 60 new jobs

Speaking from the jobs launch Conor Murphy told Newry Times, “I congratulate Autoline and Managing director Michael Blaney on the continued growth of this locally based company.

“This company currently employs almost 150 workers and these additional jobs will be a further boost to the local economy. I also welcome the support provided by Invest NI in this expansion.

“It is important that indigenous businesses receive the support of statutory investment agencies to stimulate the economy and job creation,” he added.

SDLP MLA Karen McKevitt said that news is ‘great for local people’. “As people continue to struggle and the economy continues to show fragile signs of recovery, it’s great that we have a new source of employment for local people.

“Autoline have already shown a significant commitment to the local area and employ a sizeable staff. The decision to expand once again shows that we have a local work force that is more than capable of delivering services on a bigger stage.

She added, “As the company plans to invest further in the local HQ, these new jobs will deliver a much needed extra £1.5million to the local economy. This is a good news day for Autoline, local people and our economy generally.”
