Local police investigate ‘hate crime’ assault

Local police are appealing for information after a report of an assault at the Newry Street, Warrenpoint area on Sunday 20th April.

At around 10:30pm, it was reported between 4 to 5 men assaulted a man in the Square area.

The male is believed to have received head and facial injuries as a result of the incident, that are not believed to be life threatening.

At this stage, police are treating the incident as a hate crime. Enquiries are continuing.
