Rogers called for Park and Share facility on abandoned road at Tinker Hill

South Down Assembly Member Seán Rogers has tabled a question to Minister for Regional Development Danny Kennedy MLA asking whether the abandoned section of the A1 Road at Tinker Hill outside Newry could be used to accommodate additional Park and Share facilities.

Rogers explained, “Following representations made to me by constituents from the Kilkeel area that use the provided facility near the Sheepbridge Roundabout five days per week when teaming up with others to share cars to and from work and their observation that a patch of disused road nearer Newry might suit to accommodate the parking of additional vehicles.

“I visited the site to see for myself and I can confirm that I share their view that it has parking potential.

The SDLP Assembly Member added, “I have asked Minister Kennedy to explain his Department’s opinion of providing additional parking spaces at Tinker Hill. It looks a relatively easy suggestion to fulfill but only the Minister and his Department can provide the initial answers and authorise its use for additional parking.”
