Life’s Better with Translink this Christmas for Newry passengers

With the festive season upon us, Translink is making life better and spreading some Christmas cheer as it launches a wide range of great value travel offers across its services for passengers in Newry.

Whether you are using passenger transport for shopping, entertainment or socialising with family and friends, Translink has some Christmas crackers!

Translink passengers in Newry can now take advantage of free return journeys from Newry train station to Newry city centre every Saturday until 21st December (inclusive). Newry Park & Ride passengers can also avail of free return journeys to the city centre after 4.30pm Monday to Friday from 2nd December until Monday 23rd December in line with late night shopping.

Greg McLoughlin, Translink Service Delivery Manager, highlighted the benefits to passengers and outlined the range of great packages across all their services which have been designed to encourage as many people as possible to use the services during the festive period.

“We have loads of travel deals and great savings available and we are delighted to announce that this Christmas we will once again be offering some free services from Newry train station, making access to the city centre even easier and a great way to save time and avoid city centre congestion.

“This Christmas we are encouraging people to embrace the benefits that passenger transport has to offer such as less hassle sitting in traffic and without the need to worry about getting a car parking space leaving you more time to think about what presents to buy.

“With this in mind we have developed a wide range of offers that make travelling by bus, rail or coach the sensible choice. Passengers can make even bigger savings by purchasing multi-journey bus and rail tickets, availing of promotional offers, as well as youth discount cards and Senior and 60+ free travel with a Smartpass.

“Whatever the occasion this Christmas we are confident that there is something for everyone. More and more people are choosing the bus and train as their preferred way to travel as they recognise the benefits of passenger transport.

He added, “With more than 78.5 million passenger journeys made last year, we want to continue investing in our services to make sure they are as attractive as possible for our customers and develop promotions that offer tangible cost savings this Christmas.”
