Sinn Féin call for prosecution on Fairy Glen dumpers

Sinn Féin councillor Mick Murphy has called on those responsible for dumping in the Fairy Glen area of Rostrevor to face the full rigors of the law following dumping in recent weeks.

Speaking to Newry Times, Councillor Murphy said, “There was a brilliant initiative recently to clear rubbish from the Fairy Glen by community activists, and since the completion of this there has been persistent dumping in the Forest Brook end of the Fairy Glen.

“This dumping has included a range of items from small household waste to larger items such as pieces of furniture and old bicycles.

“I want to urge those responsible for carrying out this fly-tipping to stop immediately and to use the relevant facilities or collection services available to them.

“If anyone requires items of waste collected, do not hesitate to contact the local Sinn Féin office in Warrenpoint where we can liaise with the council to ensure that it is dealt with.

Murphy added, “I will be raising this as a matter of urgency with council officials to ensure that those who continue to dump at the Fairy Glen or any other area, are prosecuted accordingly.”
