Serious sexual assault in Newry
Detectives from the PSNI’s Rape Crime Unit are appealing for information following a serious sexual assault in Newry on Sunday 11th December.
Around 1.30am a 23 year old female accepted a lift from two males in a dark coloured, four door car at Sugar Island. It is believed the car drove around Newry for approximately one hour through Sugar island around the one way system stopping on Talbot Street and Stream Street and ending up in the North Street/Lindsay Walk area. The female was sexually assaulted during this time.
Two males, aged 20 and 21 years old, were arrested and later released on bail pending further enquiries. Police are working to establish the exact details of this incident and are asking anyone who witnessed a dark coloured car driving around these areas during these times to contact them immediately. They would also like to hear from anyone who has any other information in relation to this incident.
