The Platinum Jubilee Pollinator Garden Award, which is now open to applications across County Armagh until Wednesday 4 May 2022, is providing funding of £100,000 to one group or partnership for the creation of a bespoke pollinator garden to commemorate the Platinum Jubilee in 2022.

Provided by the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs and administered by Live Here Love Here, the grant will cover 95% of the cost to establish, enhance or develop a community pollinator garden and applications from community groups and partnerships between community groups in urban and rural areas are welcomed.

The garden must have elements that provide food and shelter for pollinators, but the project does not have to be exclusively for this reason.

The garden should be inclusive and accessible, and it should provide a healthy pit stop for pollinators and humans alike.

Helen Tomb, Manager at Live Here Love Here, says of the unique opportunity, “It’s incredibly rare to get funding for one big community project like this – where any small local group with a big idea has the chance to do something really transformative for their community.

“All that’s needed is the creativity and passion to make it happen.

“If your community has a shared space that you would like to do something with, or if you could link up with another group to create a project, we would love to hear from you.

“Your group must be fully constituted and you also need to have permission to develop a publicly accessible site.

“But other than that it’s all about having the vision to see what your space could become with some imagination and £100,000!”
