The last year has seen real changes – and challenges – for parents using childcare, as well as the providers who deliver it, on top of already existing pressures.

Employers For Childcare is now carrying out a major survey of parents and childcare providers.

The survey comes at a critical time.

The Northern Ireland Executive has committed to a new Childcare Strategy, and this must learn from the experience of Covid-19, which has seen changes to how many parents use childcare.

That’s why it’s so important for all parents and childcare providers to take a few minutes to share their views, and make sure their voices are heard as the Executive works to develop a new and long-overdue Childcare Strategy that delivers for parents, providers, and the wider economy.

Aoife Hamilton, Head of Charity Services with Employers For Childcare explains how the charity will use the information from the survey.

“The Northern Ireland Childcare Survey is the most extensive research into how parents use childcare and also looks at the experiences of those who provide it,” she stated.

Aoife continued, “Covid-19 has had a major impact on how we all live and work, with parents and childcare providers adjusting in terms of what childcare they use and how this is provided.

“This survey will provide the evidence to support calls for ambitious, long-term investment in this vital economic sector.

“Investment that needs to be secured as part of a much-needed and long-overdue Childcare Strategy that helps parents to access the high-quality childcare they need and supports providers to deliver it sustainably,” she added.

All parents and childcare providers who complete the survey will be entered into a draw to win one of two £100 shopping vouchers.

The survey is available on the Employers For Childcare website until 24 September 2021.
