Less than one week left to apply for Assured Skills Academy

Economy Minister Diane Dodds has announced a new Assured Skills Academy with FinTrU in Belfast offering 20 high-quality training places to people with degrees.

Participants in the academy will receive industry-relevant pre-employment training from Belfast Met and Ulster University over four weeks.

Those who successfully complete the academy are guaranteed an interview for a role at FinTrU.

 

 

Highlighting the opportunity, the Minister said, “FinTrU is a successful and growing local employer and I am very pleased that my Department is once again working in close partnership with the company to offer an Assured Skills Academy.

“Assured Skills Academies have a strong track record of providing high-quality training while also providing local businesses with the skills and talent they need to grow.

“This is an excellent opportunity for people with a degree to gain the skills they need to kick-start a career in financial services.

“And I encourage anyone who is interested, and eligible, to apply,” she added.

Sinead Carville, Chief Human Resources Officer at FinTrU, said, “We are launching applications for what will be our 24th Financial Services Academy here at FinTrU.

“This represents a fantastic opportunity for those embarking on their professional journey or looking for a change in career to an exciting industry in 2021.

“We delivered multiple FinTrU Financial Services Academies virtually in 2020 and look forward to welcoming applications from those who are ambitious and want to work alongside some of the world’s largest investment banks,” Sinead added.

 

 

Training will be delivered remotely and cover areas including Compliance, Legal, Risk, Operations, KYC and Consultancy.

The Academy training will be delivered through an online virtual classroom.

Michael Pogue, Senior Lecturer in Financial Services at Ulster University Business School, said, “Ulster University is pleased to be in a position to deliver this Assured Skills Academy during this time.

“Making use of the latest remote learning technology, we will ensure participants in the Academy gain the knowledge and skills they need to put them in a strong position to enter the field of financial services.”

Louise Warde Hunter, Principal and Chief Executive of Belfast Met, said, “Belfast Met has robust home learning processes for students and we are well-positioned to deliver the high-quality training needed for participants in this academy to go on and compete for a role in financial services.”

Applications for the FinTrU Assured Skills Academy are open until 29 January 2021.

 

 

No experience is required but applicants must hold a 2:2 degree or better in any discipline.

Initial Interviews will be held by telephone on 8-9 February and if successful a further video interview be held 12-15 February.

Training will commence on Monday 1 March and finish on Friday 26 March.
