Newry City play park “needs to move quickly to design stage”

Newry, Mourne and Down Sinn Féin Councillor Declan Murphy has welcomed the findings of the Albert Basin consultation but said that the volume of responses by local people and groups was a “clear indication on the depth of interest in the project”.

The Albert Basin consultation was recently presented at Council.

 

 

“Sinn Féin welcome the findings of the Albert Basin consultation.

“The majority of respondents want to see maximum green space with minimum infrastructure.

“This is to be welcomed,” he insists..

 

 

“At Council, I seconded the proposal to move this on to the design stage. 

“This is an exciting project and I believe it is important that it moves quickly to the Design stage and then onto planning.”

 

 

The Sinn Féin representative added, “Once it is shovel ready with its business case in place, it will be more appealing to potential funders, guaranteeing a park that is fit for purpose.”
