Speaking to Newry Times, Inspector Kelly Gibson said, “We received a report that just after 6.50 am, two young males were throwing large stones at passing vehicles.

“Officers attended, but there was no sign of the pair.

“This was a reckless act,” she continued.

“And, while the culprits probably considered it amusing, the consequences could have been very different.

“This could all too easily have resulted in injury or even loss of life.

“I am appealing, in the first instance, to those responsible to think about the potential impact of such actions.

“I am also asking anyone who witnessed this incident, or who may have captured dashcam footage, to contact us on 101 quoting reference number 252 of 26/05/20,” Inspector Gibson added.
