Councillor condemns Bessbrook vandalism

Slieve Gullion area Sinn Féin Councillor Declan Murphy has said that those engaged in wanton vandalism at a house on Mill Road in Bessbrook should desist.

The local Councillor was making his comments after windows in a home were broken by a group of youths.

Speaking to Newry Times, Declan said, “Those engaged in this wanton act of vandalism should desist.

“In a time when our communities are coming together to help each other, the last thing we need are mindless acts like this.”

The Sinn Féin representative continued, “This criminal anti-social act of vandalism has caused the house owners huge concern.

“It’s the last thing they or anyone needs. It has to stop.”

Councillor Murphy added, “I will be requesting that the Police be alert to what is happening in that locality and endeavour to take appropriate action to stop it.

“I would also appeal to people to watch out for their neighbours.”
