Belfast based Macklin Care Homes is offering unemployed people job opportunities following completion of a four-week Bridge to Employment training programme.

The company, in association with the Department for the Economy (DfE) and Belfast Met, has developed a training programme to provide trainees with an ONC NI Level 2 Award in Vocational Skills on the role and responsibilities of the Health and Social Care Worker and an understanding of the tasks involved in working as a Healthcare Assistant.

The training will be based at Macklin’s Park Manor Oaks Care Home, Dunmurry.

Applicants must be over 18 and no experience is necessary.

The selection process for a pre-employment training place will include an information day and an interview.

Applicants invited for interview will be required to complete an Enhanced Access NI Check.

Following successful completion of the training programme, individuals will be guaranteed a job interview for a Healthcare Assistant position with Macklin Care Homes.

Launching this Bridge to Employment opportunity, Graeme Wilkinson, Director of Skills at DfE, said, “The Department’s Bridge to Employment programme is an excellent opportunity for those who are unemployed to undertake training and gain meaningful employment in a range of jobs which contribute to the growth of the local economy.

“This pre-employment training opportunity developed by the Department, Belfast Met and Macklin Care Homes, will help to equip participants with the skills needed to compete for a job within the Healthcare industry,” he added.

Claire McCay, Group HR Manager for Macklin Care Homes, said, “We are delighted to partner with DfE and Belfast Met for the Bridge to Employment programme. Our company values centre around our people and their development and we love helping people realise their full potential.
