Former SDLP leader Margaret Ritchie joins board of Co-operation Ireland
Former SDLP Leader and Member of Parliament for South Down Margaret Ritchie has joined the board of Co-operation Ireland.
Ms Ritchie replaces former Foyle MP Mark Durkan who has stepped down to run in the upcoming European elections.
Commenting on her appointment, Ms Ritchie said, “I am delighted to have been nominated and appointed to the board of Co-operation Ireland.
“This is a prestigious body addressing reconciliation and working to build a shared society within Northern Ireland and between north and south.
“The aims and objectives of Co-operation Ireland are ones which I totally endorse, and I am looking forward to working as a member of the board,” she added.
Co-operation Ireland Chairman Dr Christopher Moran said, “On behalf of Co-operation Ireland I am delighted to welcome Margaret Ritchie to the board.
“She brings a wealth of experience to the organisation and I am looking forward to working with her to promote relationships across Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and between London and Dublin.”
