Arson attack at commercial premises in Newry

Detectives are investigating a suspected arson at commercial premises in Newry on the night of Monday 18 March.

Police say they received a report of a fire at premises on the Newry Road shortly after 11:10 pm.

 

 

It was reported entry to the premises had been forced and a number of vehicles inside had been set alight.

Speaking to Newry Times, Detective Sergeant Darragh said, “The vehicles inside the premises were completely destroyed and a building situated nearby sustained damage as a result of the blaze.

 

 

“I want to appeal to anyone who was in the area and saw what happened, or who saw any suspicious activity to contact police/detectives in Ardmore on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 1691 of 18/03/19.”

He added, “Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.
